The Outstanding Kyle Goldie Wednesday, Jul 21 2010

If you know me well, you will know I oft times lament about the lack of really strong photographers here in Portland. Now, Portland has a lot of photographers. It has a lot of good photographers. It has a handful of great photographers but that handful is small and I’ve shot with most of them. I was really excited to get a chance to work with Mr. Kyle Goldie.

Kyle is a young newer photographer but his work is simply outstanding. I have watched his work for the last few years and have waited, not so patiently sometimes, for my chance to work with him. His images are stellar and very very strong. 🙂 A model by the name of Lola contacted me via referral from Kyle to do hair and makeup for a shoot they were doing. I jumped at it. It meant loading up at dawn thirty to go to Seattle but I was excited!!! 🙂

I’m looking toward working with him on future projects. My book would definitely love some Kyle Goldie beauty shots! And Fitness! And Men… and swimsuit… and beach. 😉

Leverage’s Parker on Tour Friday, Jul 16 2010

A fellow makeup artist sent me this today. I haven’t even had time to really look for any of these. It seems I have been running and working ever since I did Beth’s Riesgraf’s hair and makeup for her Electronic Media Tour. I love the clips they included to show the depth and breadth of her character on the show. Parker is indeed my fave so I was delighted to get to do “Parker’s” hair and makeup for this job.

Glamour Magazine Monday, Jul 12 2010

I found this lovely little tidbit sitting in my in box tonight! Very fun!

A few months back I did a shoot with Brandon Witzel, outstanding clothing designer Claire la Faye, very talented hair stylist Kira Pinski, gifted clothing stylist Rebecca Westby, and model Sarah Schroeder from OMM.

I added a few of the images to my portfolio and to my web site but hadn’t seen or heard much from it since. In fact, I had forgotten about the images. Tonight I find one of the images on Glamour Magazine’s online site…advertising Claire la Faye’s designs. Very cool. See link below! 🙂

The lovely and funny Beth Riesgraf Saturday, Jun 19 2010

This week had a fun and unexpected surprise.  I got to break up the makeup monotony a bit and was contacted from TNT directly to do hair and makeup on Beth Riesgraf, one of the lead actresses on “Leverage.”  I was super excited when they asked me to do this as I had been on the show as an extra on 3 separate occasions and Beth had always been my “favorite” actress on the show.

Call time was 4 am so I left the house at 3 am full of eager anticipation.  Beth and I met formally at 4:15 and after working out a few kinks, we got a rhythm and we got Beth ready.  She had a cool outfit that truly reflected “Parker”, the character that Beth plays on the show.  Here is a clip from one of the many interviews Beth and fellow actor, Timothy Hutton did together this day.  This was towards the end so we were all a little more slap happy and giggly!  🙂

Glamorous model and makeup Wednesday, Jun 2 2010

I finally got some images from a shoot I did a few months ago. I was excited to work with photographer Dustin Rowley and one of my favorite models, Morayma. We had styling done by the owner of the Gilded Closet and there was a hair stylist there which I always appreciate. 🙂

I had fun with this shoot as I got to play and do a little bit more glamorous makeup.   I tend to only get to do beauty makeup so I always appreciate the chance to stretch myself and do something new or different.

A few of these will be used in a charity event for Wyden and Kennedy in July. I’m pretty excited to be featured in that!

New Commercial Up!!! Tuesday, May 11 2010

A couple of weeks ago I had the opportunity to work with Bamboo River Press and Montavilla Sewing Center on their new commercial. Actress Mercedes Rose was the lead and I was delighted to get to know her better. She is a riot!!!

Introducing Portland designer Claire La Faye Wednesday, Apr 14 2010

I was browsing the net a few weeks ago, looking for a designer’s clothes to use that have NOT been used a hundred times over already. I wanted something new… something fresh… something inspired. I love Sarah Seven and her designs but pretty much every makeup artist and photographer has shot her dresses. I didn’t want to be part of the masses.

I saw some of Claire La Faye’s designs and I just had to smile. It was everything I was hoping to find. Her stuff is creative, beautiful, and unique.

I immediately looked her up and found she was a recent transplant from CA and so I wrote her and asked to borrow some of her clothes for an upcoming shoot. Claire was very open and soon I had a photographer and some beautiful models, an amazing hair stylist, and an outstanding wardrobe stylist. It was to be perfect! 🙂 Makeup by me, of course! 😉

Orange tile and fox fur Thursday, Apr 8 2010

Here are the remaining looks from my shoot with Brandon Witzel. Miss Megan who is now modeling all over China was a really good sport for this last location as it was a covert little public restroom. I walked in and was afraid to touch anything and here was Megan leaning back against the walls, sitting on the floor, etc. Modeling is a hard job!!! 🙂

Special thanks to Kira Pinski for her outstanding hair styling and for supplying the fox fur! It added a certain crazy element and it made me smile!

Black Eyes Black Lips Wednesday, Apr 7 2010

The first part of the shoot with Brandon Witzel was with Miss Megan in pointe shoes and a nice dress, we thought we’d dirty her up for 2nd half of the shoot.  From this part of the shoots conception through its execution, the concept changed quite a bit.  The final results were not what I had intended but there were some great shots!!!

Beauty En Pointe Sunday, Mar 28 2010

There is a model in Portland that I have wanted to work with for a few years now. Her name is Megan and rumor had it that Mode International was shipping her off to China for fashion week and she would be gone a big chunk of time. I conversed with some creative peeps and we set up a shoot with her and photographer Brandon Witzel. I have been admiring his work and the softer feel of his images and thought he would be perfect for this shoot with Miss Megan.

He agreed and so amazing hair stylist Kira Pinski and I started dreaming up a shoot concept. We really wanted something to do with ballet so Megan got her pointe shoes, Kira rented a studio, and Megan got a designer dress from Sarah Seven and we were off.

Here are a few of the best images from the studio…

I went for a really simple beauty look. Soft and clean. I wanted her face to blend in and accent the rest of the scene, not dominate the shot.

The next look was more edgy and will be showcased later… 🙂 I love working with a great team!!!!
